Ridgway Volunteer Fire Department responds to Brush fire

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour, the Ridgway Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD) was called to the scene of a brush fire at 4:03 p.m., along the railroad tracks in the area behind Fuel On at the foot of Montmorenci Road. At the time of the call, the fire was seen from North Broad Street, across the river from the actual fire.

Responding to the scene were all three fire chiefs along with fire police, Engine 43 and Tanker 401. The railroad was notified of the incident. The fire was under control by 4:26 p.m. and Incident Command was terminated at 4:36 p.m. and all units returned to station and were available for service. As of press time the cause of the fire was unknown.
